1. SUBMISSION OF REQUESTS
Initial survey is the initial technical inspection that must be performed by each yacht and pleasure craft with a hull length of more than 15 meters, which will be register for the first time in the Register of Ships of the Republic of Croatia.
Requirements for initial survey of yachts of Croatian nationality are described in the “Ordinance on crafts, boats and yachts", (Off. Gazette 13/2020 and 52/2020).
Requirements for equipping Croatian yachts with safety equipment are described in the "Ordinance on crafts, boats and yachts", (Off. Gazette 13/2020 and 52/2020).
Registration of the yacht is preceded by the procedure of determining the technical acceptability for the first registration of the yacht according to the specific requirements of the “Ordinance on crafts, boats and yachts", (Off. Gazette 13/2020 and 52/2020).
To submit an "online" application for the issuance of a "Yacht Data Certificate" and to perform an initial survey of the yacht, you need to click HERE. You will be notified by e-mail that the request has been duly received.
The application should be fully completed and contain all information about the applicant (exact and complete name of the legal or natural person who owns the yacht, address, telephone number, e-mail, name and surname of the responsible person, OIB (personal identification number) etc.).
The request must be accompanied by the following (original documents, certified translations or certified copies are not required):
- For newly built yachts for commercial or personal use, hull length up to 24 meters:
copy of the EU Declaration of Conformity for a yacht in Croatian language
copy of Builder's Certificate
copy of the EC Type-examination certificate in accordance with the Directive (EC Type Examination), if required by the Directive regarding the applied conformity assessment procedure
copy of the EU Declaration of Conformity for propulsion machines (power greater than 120 kW)
copy of Noise test report if applicable
if the authorised person submits the request, a certified power of attorney should be attached
- For newly built yachts for commercial use, or second-hand yachts for personal use, hull lengths greater than 24 meters:
newly built yacht for commercial use
Certificate of completion of construction issued by a recognized organization in accordance with Regulation (EC) 391/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council
copy of the Class certificate issued by a recognized organization in accordance with Regulation (EC) 391/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council
a copy of other yacht certificates for navigation issued by the previous maritime administration in accordance with the conventions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
copy of the Certificate of Registry
- For second-hand yachts for personal use with a hull length of up to 24 meters:
copy of the Certificate of Registry, Yacht Certificates or other relevant document of the EEA Member State as proof that the subject yacht has already been placed on the market and / or used within the EEA
- For second-hand yachts for commercial use, hull length up to 24 meters:
copy of the Certificate of Registry, Yacht Certificates or other relevant document of the EEA Member State as proof that the yacht in question has already been placed on the market and / or used within the EEA
copy of the EU Declaration of Conformity for a yacht
copy of the EC Type-examination certificate in accordance with the Directive (EC Type Examination)

All newly built yachts that have never been placed on the market and / or put into use in the EEA member states and which are placed on the market and / or put into service in the territory of the Republic of Croatia for the first time, must have an EU Declaration of conformity issued by the manufacturer in Croatian language.
It is necessary to submit a direct request for the first registration of the yacht to the competent Harbour Master's Office, request for the assignment of the name of the yacht, as well as request the issuance of other documents necessary for the first registration.
2. INITIAL SURVEY
Initial survey of the yacht is performed by the CROATIAN REGISTER OF SHIPS (CRS).
Upon receipt of the "on-line" request, the CRS issues an order to its competent Branch office to perform a yacht survey.

You will receive an e-mail informing which Branch office you need to contact for a survey. In order to shorten the survey procedure, it is recommended to agree on the date and place with the CRS Branch office immediately upon receipt the notification by e-mail or when the yacht is prepared for inspection and equipped with all required equipment.
Initial survey of the yacht can be started before the completion of the yacht registration procedure in the Register of Ships of the Republic of Croatia.
The duration of the yacht survey depends on the condition of the yacht, the scope of the inspection, the equipment of the yacht, and depends on the case. It is desirable to prepare as many yachts as possible for survey at the same location at the same time.
3. ISSUANCE OF DOCUMENTS
Based on submitted documents, the Harbor Master's Office, to which the request was submitted, issues the Certificate of Registry .
Upon successful completion of the initial survey and registration of the yacht (with prior presentation of the Certificate of Registry original documents or certified copies are not required) CRS issues:
- for the yachts with hull length up to 24 m
Certificate of the yacht ability for navigation (commercial use / personal use)
- for the yachts with hull length greater than 24 m
Certificate of Class
Other yacht certificates for navigation issued on behalf of the Republic of Croatia in accordance with the conventions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
